This was an exciting part of our trip. Watching the camel cross the road. We went to Ras al Hadd where the baby green turtles are born. The trip was amazing...we got lost, found our way again, had fun side trips and saw new things. This particular video captured our very first camel crossing. I am sure it is a normal sight here on the arabian peninsula, but that didn't stop us from enjoying our first.
When it finished crossing it went to a big dumpster and rummaged around for a meal. The coolest shot would have been when he came up with an egg carton in his mouth - but alas, my camera snapped a second too late. Of course, since we were in our 4 wheel drive, we off roaded and got as close as possible to the camel. It didn't even seem to care. The children were dumb struck.
Not so clean....
such a sweet face! No spitting by the way~we waited and it never happened ;(

Sweet face indeed! Remember the camel ranch between Ft. Worth and Amarillo? Cracks me up every time we drive by that herd of camels in the middle of Texas...
Good thing the camel didn't spit--they are actually able to empty their stomachs at will, so that's not really spit. EW. But it would've been very memorable!

See, camels are posers, so you have to take their picture!
I'm not so much worried about the spitting they do but the growling that comes from their inner depths. It scares me everytime! :)
When the festival comes 'round, you'll be able to let the kids take camel rides for like 500 baisas. :)
