well...there was this one time....

I got busy. What can I say? I packed up and moved to Doha. I lived in a hotel for 4 weeks with 3 children and 5 restaurants. We got to be on a name basis. They welcomed us as we walked into each of the restaurants. Did I mention I didn't have my own car for the first 3 weeks? We got our boxes delivered to the house the day before going on vacation back to America...so...yep you guessed it - I unpacked boxes and packed suitcases in one day. It was brilliant box demolishment. Then we arrived in Houston and high-tailed it to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We rented a huge cabin and invited David's fam to come and spend some time trying to win a round of family olympics. We didn't win...we came in second - but it was a ton of fun. Then we travelled a bit between Tennessee and Texas and wound back in Texas to spend time with my family.

At this very moment I sit at gate E24 at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. I am by myself. Waiting to hop on a Continental flight to Salt Lake City. I feel, since arriving at this airport, that domestic flying stinks. I'm used to international flights by now. I think domestic flights have caught the super-charge-rip-off syndrome...in other words - get you in and charge you a fortune for lots of little things that should be part of the experience anyway but aren't. I paid $15 for my first bag. I have now paid $9.95 for internet access because I can't find a single free wifi spot - not even at starbuck's. And they just announced over the speaker that my flight would be a drink only flight and that I can bring on my own food. Ro rop it all off, I requested an outside seat...and I am stuck in a center seat...the worst seat of all. Oh man! Hope I don't sit next to someone stinky or rude or who smacks their gum or licks their fingers.....I might scream. I tried to change my seat...but having arrived 2 hours ahead of time...I still couldn't adjust it at the check in...which in my opinion is ridiculous.

Good NEWS! While I was in Texas, I took care of the warrant out for my arrest for Failure to Appear in court for something that was not even my fault. Today I went in with my case all typed up and a timeline to present my defense...the prosecutor took one look at me as I placed it on his desk and I said "This is to help us be brief and to provide a shortcut on my case." He made this grumbling noise and said "this isn't much of a shortcut....hmmmm....ok....your charges are dismissed." I should have been relieved, but I was not given the chance to expound on the lack of professionalism and complete stupidity of the Port Arthur Police Department. In fact, I'm not even sure that they deserved to be capitalized....so - the port arthur police department. I will subtitle them "the depart of idiots who punish the innocent and keep on torturing them just for fun!" That is a great slogan for them.

Seriously....a man just walked by me with a HUGE full size piece of luggage that I think he is going to try to pass off as carry on. That is just WRONG!

Ok...I hope this satisfies the reading buds of those who still read this...although I am pretty sure I have been abandoned because of my extra long hiatus....but I vow to come back with a vengeance!!!! Bwahahahaha...so watch out.

Welcome back :)

Domestic flights in the last few years have gotten worse and worse... but I guess it's no different to taking a long haul coach trip - nothing free on those either. I even read somewhere that they were looking into standing only flights (with special restraints) for short haul flights! nuts!
