Right now my family is in Beaumont, Texas. Friends, loved ones, students. And I am worried. I haven't been able to get through to any of them since the hurricane hit and I hope and pray that everyone left...or if not, that they survived.
If you read this, please let me know how you are and what is going on. I am anxiously awaiting!

Hi - I'm your Mum's friend - Lisa from Tasmania. I know her from the hydran group. They are fine! This is what Angela (Chrissy's Mum in Houston) sent to the group this morning.
"Dru's home is okay, but they lost most of their barn and outbuildings. She said her pumphouse is sitting in her front yard now! And they lost lots of trees. They usually evacuate, but did not this time, and she says she wishes they had and from now on, they will! They are without power too, and will probably be for quite some time. I have invited them to our house if we can manage to keep our power!!
Anyway, that's about all I can say for now. Thank goodness we are all okay! Thanks for the well wishes and prayers everyone!"
I'm glad I saw your blog as I know how worried you must be about them.
Lisa
Amber, I just got off the phone with your mom. I understand you got ahold of her last night, so you have the update straight from her. I wanted to also let you know that my power is back on here in Houston and I have invited your family here. Your mom said they will take me up on the offer and will probably be here tomorrow (Monday). The schools are closed here for the next week, so we will just have one big party, I guess! Anyway, just wanted you to know they will be here and you can call or email and she can check it here at my house. My phone number is 281-712-1929 in case you want to call. Take care, Angela Mason

This is Trish Rupert, the middle school took a hit like in Rita and we will be out for at least the next two weeks, I have heard from Susie Brooks, Debbie Amy, Sonya Reviere, Cindy Williams, Leslie Nobles, Cindy Gault and we are all okay. I too am worried about our students, no way to know about them. I was glad to see that your family was okay. If I hear more, I will let you know.
Hey its rachel shauberger :) i just wanted to let you know that so far, all of your students are ok (but thats just the few ive spoken with) and my family and myself are doing well. we are shacked up in longview at my great aunts house and from what my dad says (he had to stay), our house is fine and sustained minimal damage. YAY! but anyways, i just thought that i would let you know this since you were asking... i miss you :( and i hope to be talking to you very soon.
Hi Amber~
Just wanted to respond, even though I have already spoken with you and you know we are OK. We have arrived at Angela's house, and dragged your Nana here with us, kicking and screaming (not really, but she certainly didn't want to come, and wasn't being very nice about it, either--your poor Pawpaw, I feel bad for him!) He seems happy to be here, but I'm sure the kids will get on his nerves soon enough...I'm hoping that Aunt Earlene will get home from the hospital and have electricity soon, so they can go over there and leave Angela and me to our scrapbooking...LOL
I spoke to the electric co-op this AM, and they said it will be 3-4 weeks before we get electricity. We will drive Angela batty long before we have electricity at home! Crystal Beach, Gilchrist and Rollover Pass are pretty much gone, as well as a lot of Galveston and Kemah, Bridge City, etc. We are very blessed to still have our home and for all of us to be OK.
I'm so glad my friends were able to set your mind at ease--I'm sorry you were worried about us, but I couldn't get through to you to let you know.
We love and miss you!
Mom
Everyone, thank you for the replies. It is comforting.
Trish...I am so glad that you are reading and responding...especially right now. Keep me posted. Thank you a billion times.
Mom and friends...thank you. I was really relieved when the phone lines started working and I could hear her voice.
Rachel---sweet rachel! Stay happy. Thank you for reading and responding. I wish you were here as well...I think you would have a lot of fun. I am. It is always interesting experiencing new things. Enjoy your time off from school and read some good books...or something. Maybe get into some trouble...that would be different!
