Clarity

As we were flying out of Dubai, it was night and everything was lit up. The airplane we were in made a circle so that it was possible to get a clear view of the massive city lights. I recognized many of the building shapes from pictures and it was amazing. I was looking down on it all from high and it still seemed massive. Impressive. Then I adjusted in my seat and eye level with me was one of the most astonishing sights. The moon. It was right there...eye level...huge and for some reason larger than it had ever appeared before. I could see so many details. I glanced back down to the city and it paled in comparison. Suddenly it wasn't so impressive. It was a beautiful moment. I realized that I was going some place new, but the things that mattered were still the same...the moon was still the same...the stars were still the same...the sky was still the same.

I thought that I was fine and steady until that moment, but clearly I needed the peace that the realization provided. I was happy.
