more of the 3 S's

The three S's are SIGHT, SOUND and SMELL, by the way.

Here are some more observations:

At restaurants all the ladies sit together and all of the men sit together. They are the more traditional, you can tell by what they are wearing. The less traditional mix, but there aren't as many of them. I am assuming they are single because they all keep making eyes at each other.

Pizza hut is like a night club. It has a bar. When we went it was someones birthday and they started playing happy birthday over the stereo system and lowered all of the lights. I had no idea happy birthday had 4 verses.

People get violent when standing in line at the Carrefour. Apparently right before Ramadan is the wrong time to go. My dear husband let me walk around the mall while he stood in line for an hour.

Carrefour is the equivalent to walmart. I think I heard they are owned by the same people.

I keep throwing strange things in our shopping cart just because I want to try it...like carrot orange juice and red orange juice. RED ORANGE juice. So, it is red or orange? Actually it really is red orange like the crayon red orange. It is neither exclusively red or orange but rather both. Can't wait to try it. Also bought a tray of Baklawa...which looks like baklava...I am sure it is the same. So pretty. And something called Rahash...looks like fudge, but maybe not. I can't wait to try it. I am going to get fat. I need to go work out tonight.

The other day I was waiting for the kids to get out of class and listened to some of the women talk about some very insignificant things like it meant the world. "I heard they were getting a divorce...and he is going to move out to an oasis if it happens so their house might be free!" This was said with relish and enjoyment. Then they went to talk about hair and shoes. Now, don't get me wrong...I love hair and shoes...just apparently not to the degree that these women do. THeir lives seem to revolve around it. Scary. I think they may be members of the American Women's Group. I'm supposed to join a group like that. Oh dear...I hope that all the members aren't like this. They were so very catty and oblivious to things that really matter in the world discussing visiting Switzerland, etc. at their loudest speaking voice clearly trying to impress everyone around them...not me. I rolled my eyes and I think they might have seen me. Actually I wanted to start laughing. Maybe I will join one of those clubs...it should be very very entertaining and an opportunity for character studies. But shame on me for assuming that all of the women are that shallow. I am sure they aren't. Right?

Crazy drivers. Now I am one of them. Soon I will actually have my drivers license. I don't think many of these people do...

Still smelling lots of BO. I am so worried about my taste abilities. Smell and taste are so closely related...one day might I bite into some really great taste and actually taste the waiters under arm sweat because I smell it? GROSS! I hope not.

Muscat is so beautiful...I can't even describe it.

I am rolling laughing at your observations. Yes, Pizza Hut is the hot place to go (sigh).

Carrefour isn't the only place you'll see 'violence' - stay far, far away from Safeer in Atheiba. It's not really dangerous, but oy does that place stink to the high heavens!

The best juice in my opinion are the milk + juice mixtures. I think they're by Danon - they're in bright milk carton looking thingys. Yummo.

The Baklava is the bomb - stay far, far away from the stuff made from Tahina (sesame seed paste) that's next to the baklava. It's totally the bomb, but eating a half kilo really does a number on your booty!

I'm mixed up and confused, being married to a local and I think for me joining a group like that it would be heartache. I don't do insignifigant chatter. I'm a grouch.

Somehow you'll overcome the BO to a certain level. And yes, you do start to taste the smell. Yuck.

You're right - Muscat is beautiful. If it weren't, I'd be loooooong gone! :)

l_oman...we must live near one another. I live in Azaiba or Athaibah or Atheiba (because one spelling isn't sufficient here!) off of the beach road. I think I even saw that all girl school close by. The title was written in Arabic, but I am pretty sure they were all girls there. I haven't been to the safeer...stinky or not it might be convenient if I need something quick. Thanks for all the yummy tips~
