Last night I had a wonderful grown up evening. Lately I have been feeling a little bit...hmmm...shall we say kidded out? I love doing things with and for my children...trust me. But back home I had family and friends and could go get something to eat with them...hang out and talk about things other than dirty diapers.
Last night I was invited out to the best restaurant in Muscat - at least in my opinion ;) So far. That can always change later. We went to the Turkish House Restaurant in Al Khuwair. Let me tell you...mouth watering good. So good in fact, that when my husband gets back tonight I am taking the whole family there for dinner. Yummy. Yummy. I've been craving it all day long.
But the greatest thing about last night is that I got to eat and talk with some really fun and amazing people. Some friends introduced me to some people I've been wanting to meet for a while. And we talked...of adult things...it took me a while to turn on my grown-up-talk ears...but after awhile, it started coming back to me. So much fun. Especially after the banking incident.
Last night was rejuvinating...thank you.
By the way, I suspect that someone went to the sultan center and bought out every single turkey. If this was you...shame on you. How annoying and rude. I don't know why I think that it was one individual...I just do. I don't think that it was a bunch of people buying 2 or 3. I think someone went to the stores and bought them ALL. Like filled up an entire grocery cart with Turkeys. I think you are the thanksgiving version of the grinch. Shame shame. Whoever you are...if you are reading this blog...you better just hide from me. Hide. I'm not happy.

Amber - OH MY GOD - I was thinking it was the restaurant upstairs @ sultan. I think that they offer to bake turkeys for you during thanksgiving with some sides.
Either that or they're gonna whip them out and sell them for RO2 a kilo right before or near the holiday. Didn't turkeys used to cost about 19cents a pound during thanksgiving back home? That would mean it was only about 40 cents a kilo (we're talking less than 200 baisas! Man they rip us off here - have you seen how much 'nilla wafers cost - holy moley! I paid $6 for a can of eggnog the other day and had total buyer's remorse...)
If it wasn't the jokers upstairs, I betcha it was a hotel or something.
I feel awful because I promised the i-l's a true thanksgiving dinner with pumpkin pie and all. Now what the heck am I gonna do?!?!?
p.s. Forgot to say I'm happy you had a nice time @ your dinner! :)
Amber, I miss your blog! I hope your holiday is going really well.
They'll be back. But a good reminder to buy next time I see them.
However, its like that with a LOT of stuff here. You wait.
You'll see something you like, just get a few, and when you look again they won't come back for AGES. Like 9 months.
So, next time you'll buy them all!
My deep freeze is the best investment I ever made here eats-wise...
